"We are barely surviving" - Pub owner on alcohol ban
Updated | By Nomfundo Ngcobo
As the ban on alcohol continues some Durban-based pub owners say it's having a devastating impact especially on those who solely depend on alcohol sales.
Pub owner Paul Burnard says the ban has been difficult as household demands continue to grow with no money coming in.
He says bills are piling up and his family can barely survive.
"The difference between the months last year and now is that we used our funds. We spent our savings, we have had help various ways and we are back to 8 months ago with no income once again.

He says the government's extension of the ban is killing businesses and livelihoods.
"I got rent, I got insurance, I got DSTV, gas that I need to buy and I still go my own personal income that comes from the business and that is basically down to minimal as well. So, it's very difficult for us at the moment."
