KZN Premier says signs crime in province ‘has stabilised’

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube says politically motivated killings, gender-based violence and elevated levels of crime continue to be a challenge.
Dube-Ncube delivered the State of the Province Address at the Oval Cricket Stadium in Pietermaritzburg on Wednesday.
"According to the latest SAPS statistics, great improvements have been recorded for crimes which are dependent on the police action for detention with an increase of 9.6% or 2419 cases. That is a ray of hope that our province has stabilised."
She says load shedding continues to be a problem, but they've taken steps to address the immediate crisis.

"Because we have designated Richards Bay as a gas-to-energy harbour, those applications have been approved.
"It will enable between 3000 and 5000 megawatts of additional electricity to be supplied to the national grid. The whole of South Africa will benefit from an integrated resource plan."
