KZN political parties outline their SOPA expectations

Political parties in KZN expect the premier to outline her key priorities in these sectors when she delivers her State of the Province Address.

Zulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini will officially reopen the KZN Legislature in Pietermaritzburg on Tuesday.

Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube will then table the SOPA at the Oval Cricket Stadium the following day.  

 

DA KZN leader Francois Rodgers says the province's fiscal challenges are growing .

 

"Our education system and our health care system both are facing massive financial challenges that ultimately have a severe knock-on effect and have been a fiscal burden on the entire province."

Action SA's Zwakele Mncwango says they hope for a realistic action plan.

 

"And also, to ensure all schools have nutrition, and how should we make sure that those doctors who were protesting not long ago in Maritzburg are taken care of as we see there are challenges in our province."

 Meanwhile, the tourism association FEDHASA is worried about the province's service delivery challenges. 

"Many of the roads are particularly in a poor state water reticulation, upgrading especially supplies to the south coast and wastewater treatment throughout many municipalities,” says the group's Brett Tungay.
