KZN residents unconvinced by Ramaphosa’s SONA promises
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
Some KZN residents say they've been left somewhat disappointed by the president's State of the Nation Address.
President Cyril Ramaphosa delivered his last speech under the sixth administration in Cape Town last night.
Among other things, he touched on efforts to resolve the energy and water crises, and climate issues. Ramaphosa highlighted the damage done by state capture and the work being done by the National Prosecuting Authority and the South African Revenue Service to recoup the billions lost to corruption.
One Durban man found the president's remarks unconvincing.

"There were points that he touched on that we would have to fact check, with all these monies that have apparently been recovered from state capture assets that have been frozen in SARS. We want to look at those things. We want to see them to be factual.”
Another woman told Newswatch the president had the opportunity to put the spotlight on local issues.
"He's not in touch with what is happening at a local sphere. He's not in touch with the challenges people are facing. He is just speaking lightly of them as if it’s that one household, two households. So, I'm worried that the promises that he's making are just almost impossible to achieve.”
