The KZN SAPS is mourning the loss of one of its officers.
Thirty-year-old Constable Jeandre Venter was gunned down in Msinga last night.
Police spokesperson Jay Naicker says Venter and another officer had gone to arrest two alleged car thieves.
They nabbed the first suspect on Mbabane Road and then proceeded to a nearby home to arrest the second person.
Naicker says Venter stayed in the vehicle with the first suspect while his partner walked towards the residence.
