KZN police nab 9 000 suspects in anti-crime operations

Over 9 000 suspects were nabbed across KwaZulu-Natal last month for various crimes.
The KZN SAPS says it carried out several multi-disciplinary operations in March to tackle the high levels of crime in the province.
The operations netted 9 169 suspects across all eleven districts.

One-hundred-and-ninety-eight of them were wanted for murder, while 259 are accused of rape and 291 of robbery.
Others are facing theft, assault and drug-related charges.
Police say officers recovered 205 stolen vehicles and confiscated counterfeit goods, including cigarettes.

Large quantities of drugs were also seized, with the haul including heroin, cocaine, ecstasy, crystal meth, and dagga.
