KZN police hail community for tip offs

The KwaZulu-Natal provincial government says the number of people assisting the police to arrest criminals is increasing.
Health MEC Sibongiseni Dhlomo made the remarks while addressing communities in Utrecht outside Newcastle on behalf of the Social Development MEC yesterday.
Highlighting last month's arrest of four suspects in connection with the death of a 20-year-old albino woman in Manguzi in northern KZN, Dhlomo said fighting crime cannot be the sole responsibility of security agencies.
''While we are happy that more of our community members are working with the police in identifying and fighting against crime, we wish to encourage more people to come forward and assist the police by reporting these crimes in order to prevent, control and combat crime in our society,'' he said.
