KZN pensioner dies while waiting to receive grant

An elderly KZN woman has died while waiting to receive her pension in Hammarsdale, west of Durban.
The KZN Social Development Department says 63-year-old Thembisile Njapa collapsed yesterday while waiting in the queue at the local post office.
Spokesperson, Mhlaba Memela says they're saddened by this.
"Our officials quickly traced and found the family. The MEC has passed her condolences to the family. We have also sent our social workers to meet with the family."

He says payout points - which are currently only meant to be helping pensioners and people living with disabilities were overwhelmed yesterday - with the situation continuing today.
"The people who get child support grants were also in the queues, and we had a few glitches. The money was quickly finished in some of the pay points were the people were collecting their money."
