Updated | By Lauren Beukes
A pastor and his wife are in trouble with the law for apparently locking a 10-year-old girl in their Zululand home and starving her.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Thembeka Mbele says the couple - who are the child's guardians - had initially reported her missing.
The pair - who are in their 60s - claimed she disappeared after she was left alone in their Hlobane home.

"Following further investigation, the missing girl was found hiding inside a wardrobe within the house.
"Police investigations established that the little girl was hiding inside the house due to being ill-treated by her guardians who would lock her inside the house and deprive her of food.
"Two suspects aged 61 and 63 were placed under arrest for ill-treatment of a child. A case of ill-treatment of a child was opened for further investigation," says Mbele.
The couple will appear at the Hlobane Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
