Updated | By ECR Newswatch
The KZN Health MEC has heaped praises on a team of paramedics who were crucial in a surprise delivery of triplets.
A Port Shepstone woman gave birth to triplets before she was able to reach the nearest health facility.
When paramedics arrived in the early hours of Saturday morning, 27-year-old Sthandiwe Madlokovu has already given birth to the first child.
Emergency workers, Stanley Zulu and Siboniso Khuzwayo arrived 10 minutes after the expectant mother made the call.

27-year-old Madlokovu and her three daughters - Owami, Okuhle and Olona - were given a clean bill of health. Madlokovu was released from hospital three days later.
KZN MEC Sbongiseni Dhlomo congratulated the paramedics, saying they were able to work under unusual circumstances.
“Delivering a baby is not for the faint-hearted. It can be a complex process under the best of circumstances. To help someone who was expecting twins deliver triplets safely, outside a health facility, is extra-ordinary. We salute them.”
