KZN with one of highest number of NSFAS applicants in SA

KwaZulu-Natal - along with Limpopo and Gauteng have recorded the highest number of NSFAS applications for the 2020 academic year.

Over 141-thousand (141 372) applications were submitted by students from our province.
The KZN batch makes up 24% of the total number of applications nationally.
Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande gave the stats while visiting the NSFAS head office in Cape Town today.

The ministry's spokesperson Ishmael Mnisi has warned incomplete applications could sabotage the chances of a successful application.
"For the beginning of this 2020 academic year, NSFAS has paid 3.6 billion to universities and 1.6 billion to TVET colleges to easy the institutions cash flow and allow NSFAS funded students to register seamlessly, however,
