Premier Sihle Zikalala and members of the provincial cabinet will travel to Madadeni today to visit the family of KZN's first premier in democratic South Africa.
Dr Frank Mdlalose succumbed to COVID-19 on Saturday, at the age of 89.
He was the IFP's former national chairperson and was later appointed as South Africa's Ambassador to Egypt.
IFP leader Velenkosini Hlabisa says Mdlalose will be remembered for his leadership and helping keep the peace in the province.

Hlabisa says, "He laid a foundation upon which KwaZulu Natal is today. His contributions will remain a monument in KwaZulu Natal as well as in the struggle in the freedom for black people."
Mdlaloses's wife is also fighting the virus in hospital.
The DA's KZN leader, Francois Rodgers has also sent a message of support to the family.
Rodgers says, "We also understand that Mrs Mdlalose is not well at present and we keep her in our thoughts and prayers. Our condolences must also go out to the IFP and to the IFP leadership. KwaZulu Natal has indeed lost a stalwart."
