KZN MEC says domestic violence needs close attention
Updated | By Sandile Zikhali
KZN's Health MEC has appealed to people - specifically men - to seek help on how to deal with stressful situations or domestic disputes.
Sbongiseni Dhlomo's issued the plea while paying tribute to Barbara Haines - a nurse at Mahatma Gandhi Hospital - who was killed in her Palmview home in Phoenix this week.
Police allege that during an argument on Sunday night, she was shot by her husband, he then turned the gun on himself.
Dhlomo, who's also the chairperson of the Men's Forum in KZN, says people shouldn't be ashamed to ask for help.
"We are working very hard with all the citizens in the province who love peace - and we are calling upon men in solving domestic disputes this way."

Meanwhile, police say the couple's two young children weren't harmed during the shooting. They've been place in the care of family members.
