KZN mayors to discuss municipal debt on Friday

The state of the debt owed to KZN municipalities by customers will be on the agenda at a special meeting of the province's mayors in Durban on Friday.

The meeting will be led by Cooperative Governance MEC Sihle Zikalala.
KZN Cogta's Nonala Ndlovu says other government departments will also be at the gathering.

"The main objective of the meeting is to deal with some of the issues that are impacting the work of the municipalities.
"It is a standard meeting, but tomorrow we will be focusing more on revenue enhancements in municipalities, with a special focus on government debt and how we are working to actually assist municipalities to reduce government debt."
