A 19-year-old KZN woman is in hot water after she allegedly tried to write a matric exam paper for a Grade 12 pupil in Newcastle.

Police say she was caught on Monday after an invigilator at Phendukani Full Service School noticed the ID photo did not match the person sitting for the exam.
Police were called, and the teenager was arrested.

She appeared in the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, facing a charge of fraud.
KZN Education says it strongly condemned the alleged act of cheating.
"As we had promised for our exams, and our security measures were very strong,” says spokesperson Muzi Mahlambi.
"We are no longer going to be suspending you for five years and stuff like that. You must know that you are committing a crime. That is why police are going to be involved."
