A KwaZulu-Natal man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for the murder of his girlfriend.
The Pietermaritzburg High Court has given 29-year-old Mlungisi Mthembu a further five years imprisonment for the theft of Tholakele Sithole's car.
It's understood that Mthembu was in a relationship with Sithole in January 2019.
Police say Mthembu suspected her of having another affair and drove to her house in Mandeni where an argument ensued.
Officers say that evening, she was strangled.

National Prosecution Authority KZN spokesperson, Natasha Kara says Mthembu then put her body into her car and drove to a sugarcane field where he dumped it.
Kara says her body was discovered three weeks later.
"In court, State Advocate Dan Magwaza led the evidence of Mthembu’s friend who testified that Mthembu had confessed to him that he had killed Sithole and also he had asked him for assistance to dispose of the body.
"Further, Adv Magwaza led the evidence of a traditional healer who said that she had done a cleansing ceremony for Mthembu after he had dumped Sithole’s body."
