KZN man due in court after stabbing, killing grandmother (90)

A man in his 40s is expected to appear in court after allegedly stabbing and killing his 90-year-old grandmother.
The man is currently under police guard and will appear in court, once discharged.
Police were called to the Dambuza area near Pietermaritzburg on Thursday where they found the man allegedly being assaulted by an angry mob. Police say the suspect allegedly attacked his grandmother while she was sleeping on a sofa.
Police spokesperson, Thembeka Mbhele, says people must not take the law into their own hands. She says the man will appear in court as soon as he is fit to do so.
"The elderly woman was alone at her home when the known suspect is said to have attacked her. She sustained multiple stab wounds on her chest and around her upper body.

"Following this the suspect was attacked by the community and was taken to hospital where he is under police guard", Mbhele said.
