KZN Liquor Authority want outlets involved in deadly shootings shut down
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
The KZN Liquor Authority says it's working closely with the police to shut down the two establishments where deadly shootings took place this past week.

Investigations into the killings at Siqhopholozi tuck shop in Mariannhill on Saturday and a shooting at another premises in the King Cetshwayo District revealed that both were operating illegally.
A combined total of nine people were killed between the two establishments.
The authority's Nomthandazo Dlamini says there's growing concern around the mushrooming of these illegal operations.

She says their fight against these establishments relies heavily on the public's cooperation.
"At any area where you go a member of the public will they tell you that we know this particular person does not have a liquor license. But it does not assist us when the public is aware of such incidents and its not reported to us.
"So we continue to encourage them to bring those forward. Secondly, we embark on educational campaigns where we teach the public and make them aware of how do they identify that an outlet is licensed."
