KZN 'hitman' nabbed on bus travelling to Western Cape

An alleged hitman believed to be behind a string of murders in Durban has been arrested at a roadblock at the Mariannhill Toll Plaza.

Police officers set up the roadblock on Thursday morning after receiving information about the suspect's whereabouts.
It's understood the man is also wanted for attempted murder, carjacking, robbery and kidnapping in Durban.
KZN police spokesperson Thenjiswa Ngcobo says multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in the roadblock.

Ngcobo says he was found on a bus travelling to the Western Cape.
"A roadblock was put in place at the Mariannhill toll plaza with other law enforcement agencies. The suspect was travelling in a bus that was heading to the Western Cape.
"The bus was intercepted and the 31-year-old man was arrested. He was found in possession of a rifle with 90 rounds of ammunition that were concealed in his luggage bag. The suspect will appear in court soon."
