KZN Health: Vaccine rollout plan revised according to available stock
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
KZN Health MEC, Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu says due to the number of vaccines the province is currently receiving, they have had to revise the first phase of their vaccination roll-out plan

"By revising the plan doesn't mean we don't have systems on the ground. They are ready, the only thing is that now we are going to those facilities as and when we receive the doses."
Simelane-Zulu made the remarks at a press briefing at the Prince Mshiyeni Hospital in Umlazi where the province officially kicked off its vaccine rollout programme yesterday.
She says they had initially planned to vaccinate healthcare workers during a period of four days but have now changed their strategy to as and when the vaccines come in.

"The infrastructure and our plan is still there. We only adjusted according to the number of vaccines that we were getting. So if in the next 10 days we get another 10 to 15 000 more, we then identify three other health facilities where we are going to take the vaccines."
"We thought that the best way of identifying who will want to start with in terms of health facilities is looking to see who had the highest number of infections."
