KZN Health is planning to put in a proposal to the provincial government for funding for the construction of a hospital in uMbumbulu that will serve communities around that area.

MEC Sibongiseni Dhlomo says currently more than 1.4-million local from areas such as Adams Mission, Mfume and Nhlazuka have to travel a great distance to the Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital in Umlazi for medical care.
Dhlomo says he met with Amakhosi yesterday to discuss the proposal - which he says is a matter of urgency.
"There is a dire need for this hospital. We're now getting a strong request from amaKhosi to come forward with a report on this matter. I will come back and give a report of where we are in terms of this process because it's necessary even though we have other financial constraints," Dhlomo said.
