KZN Health: Operations 'back to normal' at most facilities
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The Department of
Health in KZN says it's relieved that operations have returned to normal at
most of the healthcare facilities affected by the Nehawu strike.
The work stoppage, which continued for more than a week, led to services being put on hold, while some patients and non-striking staff were barred from entering hospitals and other facilities.
On Monday, a court ordered the essential service workers to return to work.
The spokesperson for KZN Health Mdu Ncalane says they're trying to make up for lost time.

"Staff members who embark on an illegal strike, including those who could not come to work due to blocked access to healthcare facilities, returned to work in full force with only a few challenges reported, such as Kwadebeka Community Health Centre, which has since resolved."
Meanwhile, Nehawu's spokesperson in KZN Ayanda Zulu says they're still studying the Labour Appeals Court judgment.
He says in the meantime their wage strike will continue until their demands are met.
