KZN Health Dept. responds to Durban hospital horror

The KZN Department of Health has reacted to claims made by a Durban man that he's being mistreated in a local state hospital.
The Department says the allegations made were incompatible with details contained in the patient's medical file.
Pinetown resident, Riaan van der Westhuizen, who was badly hurt in a hijacking - claims to have been left unattended for hours at the RK Khan Hospital in Chatsworth.

Van der Westhuizen - who's still receiving treatment at the hospital - alleges doctors intervened when he went into cardiac arrest in the hospital's casualty unit.
He also says his wound is left exposed for up to six hours after being cleaned.
Spokesperson Sam Mkhwanazi says the department has been informed by management that he has been admitted for the past three weeks, and continues to receive the highest possible level of care.
