Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
KZN Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube says a panel of energy experts that will be tasked with accelerating the implementation of the master plan in the province's response to the electricity crisis will be appointed by the end of March.

Dube-Ncube delivered the State of the Province Address at the Oval Cricket Stadium in Pietermaritzburg on Friday.
She says a KwaZulu-Natal energy war room has also been set up, while government's also looking at alternative energy sources.
"eThekwini Metro is at an advanced stage in implementing its own energy generation capacity, with the first phase covering 400 MW and increasing to 2000 MW by 2030.
"The abundance of sugarcane gives the province a competitive edge to become a leader in biofuels, especially in ethanol for blended energy solutions.
"The province will use the Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone to establish itself as an energy hub."
