"We are also intensifying our early warning systems so that we are able to get clear predictions should there be changes to weather patterns,” she said on Sunday.

Dube-Ncube was updating the media on Sunday on the progress they've made to rebuild and repair parts of the province, that were damaged or destroyed in the April floods.

She's warned that as we prepare to enter the rainy season, local government's infrastructure projects may have to be put on hold.

The premier said emergency teams need to be more strategic when responding to natural disasters.

"When we see rains that are more than usual, we need to take into sense that we need to mobilise communities so that people are able to respond immediately, but also they know what to do in case of emergencies."
