KZN govt opens Mandela Exhibition Centre
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
It's 30 years since the release of former president Nelson Mandela from prison.

Madiba served 27-years behind bars on Robben Island and at Pollsmoor and Victor Verster Prisons before he walked out of the gates a free man in 1990.
To commemorate the day, KwaZulu-Natal will open a Mandela multi-purpose and exhibition centre at the capture site in Howick.

COGTA's Senzelwe Mzila says it's a place where people can learn about Madiba's liberation history and values.
"It is an important building where people can come and learn about the history of Madiba and link between KwaZulu-Natal."
"It is on the very same site where Madiba was captured in 1952, which means this place is very significant because it was the last place where Madiba was a free man," he says.
