KZN gov pulls plug on major events this festive season
Updated | By Andrew Robertson
The KZN government won't be hosting any major events over this year's festive season.
It says the decision was made in support of efforts to avoid a resurgence of Covid-19 in the province.
The KZN government's said in a statement, that the Provincial Executive Council, took the decision yesterday at its final meeting of 2020.
It's following advice from medical and scientific practitioners who encouraged the province to keep major events - like its festive season programme - on hold.

They explained the risk of Covid-19 spreading at events and gatherings, and urged the provincial government to be responsible and cautious.
KZN officials say the move will have a devastating impact on the local economy but it needs to protect lives.
It says people are still welcome to visit the province over the year-end holidays, and that residents can host small family gatherings in line with coronavirus health and safety guidelines.
