The grim death toll from the severe KwaZulu-Natal storms has increase to beyond 50.
Officials with the province's Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs says the number of confirmed fatalities now stands at 51.
"President Ramaphosa will travel to various areas of the province this morning, which is a sign of a caring government. The Head of State has decided to be with the people of South Africa and the people of KwaZulu-Natal in their hour of need," said Mabaso.
"He will help lighten the burden on the province by ensuring that the people are able to be provided with all the care that they need at this stage," he said.
"We are very grateful."
Meanwhile, the South African Weather Service says more rain is expected again from this afternoon.
The weather service said earlier that most of the province could expect some early morning rain, before conditions cleared into the early afternoon.
Showers and thundershowers are on the cards this evening.
Durban will reach a high of 26 degrees today. Partly cloudy conditions are expected in the province's biggest city into the afternoon, with evening showers and thundershowers expected again later.
COGTA spokesperson, Lennox Mabaso says President Cyril Ramaphosa is in the province today to survey the damage caused by the heavy downpours and flooding.
