KZN Education sets 80% pass rate target for class of 2022

The Department of Education in KwaZulu-Natal has set an 80% pass rate target for this year's matric cohort.
Matrics are currently in the middle of their trials, in preparation for the finals.
Education MEC Mbali Frazer attended NAPTOSA's KZN School Managers Conference in Durban on Friday.
She's told delegates that while a 100% pass rate is ideal, the reality is many pupils study under difficult circumstances.

"It all comes back to us, as managers, I am appealing to you that you pay your water and lights so that they don't cut them. It is painful that they are going it during this period.
"But again, I must mention it can't be correct that schools are charged as if it is a mall. You can't have a school, but you expect them to pay for water and lights as if it is a mall."
