KZN Education says it’s launching a full investigation into the handling of a social media post involving three pupils at a Pietermartizburg school.
According to media reports, Pietermaritzburg College has summoned the boys to a disciplinary hearing next Saturday. This after they had uploaded a photo of themselves online.
In the pics, the pupils who are dressed in full school uniform, are seen holding T-shirts in support of political party, the EFF.
The words, “Our last hope of getting our land back,” are painted on one of them.
Claims of racism emerged after the school began taking disciplinary steps against the boys on several counts of misconduct.

Education’s Kwazi Mthethwa says they’ll present a mandate to Pietermaritzburg College tomorrow.
"A number of reports came through to our offices, saying there are allegations of racism. We are going to visit the school first thing on Monday morning, led by district director of uMgungundlovu," he says.
Mthethwa says with matric exams around the corner, no disruptions will be tolerated.
"We have now entered a very critical stage of the academic year. We are starting matric exams, we do not wish to see any individual or group disrupting the exams," he says.
