Updated | By Lauren Beukes
With less than two months until this year's matrics sit for their all-important finals, hopes are high that the Class of 2019 will improve the province's overall pass rate.

There are 49 days to go until the first paper is written.

Education MEC Kwazi Mshengu says it is time for Grade 12s to knuckle down."We must avoid any form of distraction. These fifty days require maximum focus and discipline," said Mshengu.
"By the time you sit for your final matric exams, you must be ready to make yourselves, your families and your province proud."
Mshengu launched the 50 day countdown at Menzi High School in Umlazi yesterday.
He says they are hoping to improve on last year's 76.2 percent pass rate by breaking through the 80 percent mark.
Yesterday, Mshengu said the decisions matrics make in the coming weeks must be about bettering their futures.
