The Renewable Energy Institute for Southern Africa is also a partner.
Kaunda was speaking about the job opportunities it will create during a media briefing yesterday.
"The initiative aims to train 6 000 young people in eThekwini Municipality with renewable energy skills essential for the economy. The participants of the programme will qualify as solar PV technicians."
"You will recall that earlier this year, we hosted the energy transformation summit, where we indicated that in the short term we are preparing a new generation capacity of 400MW from independent power producers, 100MW has been allocated to solar PVs and 300MW from gas to power."
