KZN Education in court over safe learner transport
Updated | By Puseletso Petersen
A group made up of parents and teachers is taking the KZN Education Department to court this morning.

Equal Education says it's over the lack of adequate and safe transport for pupils.
"There are still cases where learners in KZN and other provinces in South Africa are walking punishing distances to access their education," the organisation's Mila Kakaza says.
Members from Nquthu will head to the Pietermaritzburg High Court.

Equal Education's Mila Kakaza says they will picket barefoot outside.
She says for many children in rural areas, these walks to and from school are dangerous.
"When they are walking these long distances - they are vulnerable to severe weather, violent crimes, and they arrive at school very fatigued. They are unable to concentrate during lessons," she says.
