KZN Education appeals to protestors not to target schools
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The Department of Education in KwaZulu-Natal has called on communities to protect schools during service delivery protests.
The department says schools have been targeted recently during some demonstrations.
It says these took place while Grade 12 pupils sat for their matric trials, which wrapped up on Tuesday.

With a month to go until the final exams begin, spokesperson Kwazi Mthethwa says they are appealing to communities not to disrupt the exam process.
He says despite a number of challenges this year and during trials, they are pleased with the progress made by matrics so far.

"While our trial exams have been slightly disrupted by some sporadic community protests that are actually not directed at Education, but rather they are service delivery related and for some reason, the protestors always use schools as soft-targets - there have been some school in Pietermaritzburg and Zululand, but we have been able to arrest those situations."
