Education MEC Mthandeni Dlungwane says for 2017, they're hoping to achieve a pass rate of 76% after the matric finals.
The province achieved an overall pass rate of 69.5% last year - an improvement from 2015's 60.7%.
The MEC made the announcement during the launch of the Winter Schools Programme yesterday.
It's to sharpen Grade 12s' maths, science and geography skills, among other things.
