The KwaZulu-Natal Education Department says it's working with the security cluster - to come up with a plan aimed at increasing police visibility near schools in the province.

Last week, primary school teacher Siboniso Nyawose was shot dead inside Masuku Primary School in Folweni - south of Durban.
Nyawose - who was 48 - was laid to rest in Umlazi yesterday.

Provincial education spokesperson, Muzi Mahlambi explains they are not deploying officers to stand guard on schools premises.
"It's not to say police will be at the schools as we don't have such a number of police to deploy them to a school but to request more visibility to schools," Mahlambi said.
