KZN Edu: Withholding pupils' reports over outstanding fees not permitted
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The KZN Education Department is again warning schools that they can't withhold pupils' reports due to the non-payment of school fees.
It says schools must instead come up with a payment arrangement for parents who are struggling to pay.
The department says children's education shouldn't suffer because of this.
KZN Education spokesperson Muzi Mahlambi said: "The payment of school fees is the responsibility of parents.

"We are in the same breath, urging all parents that are owing school to come forward so that they can make arrangements, than them sending their children to speak on their behalf in terms of having their reports released.
"We are saying once more it is illegal for schools to withhold reports."
