Dept seeks new partnerships in KZN school feeding scheme
Updated | By Lethiwe Mdluli
The KZN Education Department says it will be cancelling the contracts it has with service providers linked to the National School Nutrition Programme.
The department found itself caught up in a legal battle with several companies last year - after it tried to appoint new service providers. Education won the case.
"It was directed by a Tribunal last year - to say that we have to redo a whole tender bid regarding school nutrition. We are now abiding by that. We are issuing a notice that as from tomorrow - we are cancelling the existing bid with the view of readvertising," spokesperson Muzi Mahlambi says.

Mahlambi says the current companies will continue providing their services until the new contracts are in place.
He's assured participating schools that the feeding scheme will continue.
