Updated | By Lethiwe Mdluli
Water restrictions in certain parts of KZN could soon become a thing of the past.

Umgeni Water says decent rains over the past two weeks have seen significant improvements in dam levels in the Umgeni system.
"The level of Midmar Dam is presently in the region of 101%. Midmar Dam is overflowing," spokesperson, Shami Harichunder said.
The combined water resources for the umgeni system now measured at around 69%.

Harichunder says a combined level of 70% needs to be reached before the utility can apply to the Department of Water and Sanitation to lift current restrictions of 15%.
"Midmar Dam's overflow is now making its way into Albert Falls. Albert Falls is at 32% and rising. These two dams have been problematic. Water resources have improved significantly over the last two weeks," he said.
