KZN crash hotspots revealed in RTMC report
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Traffic officials have identified the N2 in the Pongola and Port Shepstone areas, as well as the M35 near Folweni, as crash hotspots in KwaZulu-Natal.
The Road Traffic Management Corporation says it's boosted visible traffic control in these places.
It's published its list of 24 high crash zones in the country.
The RTMC's Simon Zwane says these are areas that have recorded 15 or more collisions during the festive season in the past five years.

He says there seems to be a high number of crashes taking place before sunrise.
"The analysis we have done over the past five years indicates that nigh-time driving is a very risky travel, that is when most crashes occur and we have identified spots along the routes that are known for the high number of accidents and we would like motorists to be very careful when driving along those routes.”
