KZN couple goes missing on hike, rescued a day later

An elderly couple is recovering from their ordeal after getting lost inside a nature reserve in Port Edward.

The pair - in their 60s - had gone hiking in the Umtamvuna Nature Reserve.
They were reported missing yesterday.
Med-Evac spokesperson, Rudi Prinsloo says teams began searching for them at around 6pm yesterday.
"It was about 15kms of hiking down the Umtamvuna Gorge."

"On the return, the second team was deployed and then they got back around 2am. We suspended the search and we regrouped at 6am this morning.
"We sent a team down around9am and by 10.30 am they were found, severely dehydrated and tired. We hike them up to the closest field and a helicopter flew down to pick them up."
