KZN cop arrested for allegedly raping minor

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) has arrested an Impendle sergeant on a charge of rape.
The 44-year-old is accused in a case involving an eight-year-old girl.
IPID spokesperson Ndileka Cola says in 2017, the child's mother was the first to notice that her daughter was unwell.

"The officer allegedly threatened to shoot her if she tells anyone about the incident. The incident was reported to IPID. He was arrested on Monday at his home in Impendle.
"[He] has been remanded in custody until his formal bail application scheduled for 24 June 2021 in Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court."
