KZN Cogta sets up team to deal with Ugu water crises
KZN Cogta MEC, Sipho Hlomuka says a team has been established to deal with the water outages plaguing the Ugu Municipality on the south coast.
Fed-up residents have been protesting this week over the lack of supply.
They blocked the N2 and R102 leading to Port Shepstone yesterday morning.
Hlomuka says they have made a call to redirect their resources to areas affected that need immediate attention.
Disgruntled protestors were angered over years of water outages in the area. Hlomuka visited the route today and say residents agreed to clear the route.
Now residents on the South Coast say that the protests were a violation of basic human rights that has reached its final boiling point.
Hibberdene resident, Leka Reddy owns the B Cubed Guesthouse and Leka's food and Beer Garden.

" This year and this part of the year has been the worst we ever had. It started 6 years ago. We live in an area where there's running water and rivers, we not experiencing droughts.
"It's a sin that we don't have water. It's inhumane, we tried to help each and we have been putting this behind us for many years."
Local Rights Activists, Ibrahim Shaik has been supplying water to some communities in Hibberdene.
"We having the protests and while we having the anger it's because I, myself in my area have had four days with water in 60 days and there are some areas who haven't had water for two years.
"At the same time, when we look at the plight of the people and the suffering, I don't blame them for venting and that's what is happening."
