KZN beaches remain closed after strong winds
The eThekwini Municipality says several beaches in KwaZulu-Natal have remained closed due to ongoing windy conditions.
In a statement, the municipality has confirmed that Alkantstrand, Newark beach, Salt Rock, Willards beach, Westbrook and Umhlanga: Bronze beach, are closed.
"The KwaZulu-Natal Sharks Board has also reinstated shark nets to a number of beaches across the province which have been re-opened following the inclement weather.

"These beaches include Zinkwazi, Blythedale, Thompson’s Bay, Clark Bay, Umdloti, Umhlanga Main beach, beaches north of the Casino, Ansteys beach and Brighton beach," he said.
South African Weather Service forecaster Wisani Maluleke says the wind is at 32 knots in a north-easterly direction on the coastline.
"These are fairly normal conditions, but the sea does tend to churn up more than usual. The conditions should calm slightly by the weekend, dropping to 20 knots and heading south-westerly," he said.
A woman was injured on Tuesday after high winds kicked up a shard of glass. On Wednesday, high winds caused a man to fall off a roof.
