KZN ANC threatens to dismiss 'independent' councillors
Updated | By Chanelle Lutchman
The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal says party members who decide to run as independent candidates in any election will be shown the door.
Provincial chairperson Sihle Zikalala was among the ANC leaders who addressed thousands of supporters during the party's provincial manifesto launch in Pietermaritzburg yesterday.
Zikala said all those choosing to be independent will face consequences.
''You are independent from what? An independent from the African National Congress? An independent from the freedom charter? If you become an independent you would have expelled yourself from the ANC. Take away the T-shirt of the ANC, bring back the membership of the ANC,'' he said.
Meanwhile, a group of 10 former DA members also took to the stage swapping their blue shirts for the ANC' colours.
