KwaMashu cash-in-transit robbers sought

A police manhunt is underway for a gang of armed robbers who blew up a cash van in KwaMashu, north of Durban.

CIT security guards came under fire on Khumzana Road moments after they had collected money from a local mall on Wednesday.
SAPS spokesperson for KZN Robert Netshiunda says the gunmen were travelling in two cars.

"When the cash truck finally came to a standstill, the driver and his team were allegedly forced out of the vehicle and were robbed of their firearms before the suspects blew up the cash truck.
"The suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money. No juries were reported."
KwaMashu police are investigating cases of armed robbery, attempted murder and malicious damage to property.
