KwaDukuza's new mayor wants to improve service delivery

KwaDukuza's newly-elected mayor says resolving the municipality's service delivery problems is at the top of her to-do list.

Dolly Govender had been acting as mayor since last year when Ricardo Mthembu resigned to become a member of the provincial legislature.
Mthembu passed away in July from COVID-19-related issues.

Govender says she wants KwaDukuza to be among the country's best-run municipalities.
"When I look at the challenges that are faced in all our communities - if you look at water, sanitation, housing - I think that is where the focus should be."
"Getting service to them is one. As government, we need to really look at very seriously how we can create jobs and how we can meet the demand for housing from our communities."
