KwaDukuza traffic cop shot by fleeing robber

A KwaDukuza traffic officer is in critical condition after he was shot multiple times on Friday.

The officer came under fire on N2 under a bridge.
According to Medi Response's Paul Herbst, he was trying to stop a car suspected to have been involved in an armed robbery in KwaDukuza, north of Durban.

Herbst says the officer was shot by an occupant of the vehicle.
"The policeman was treated by advanced life support paramedics and an aeromedical helicopter was called to swiftly transport him to a hospital.
"The suspected vehicle is fleeing on the N2 sound bound lane towards Durban. It is believed he robbed a cellphone shop in the KwaDukuza Mall."
