KwaDukuza municipal services to resume after protest
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
KwaDukuza says municipal services are resuming on Wednesday after a violent protest forced the closure of some of its buildings.

Groups of disgruntled residents stormed and vandalised several municipal buildings on Monday, forcing staff to vacate their offices.
The demonstration is understood to have been led by a KwaDukuza ANC group and business owners demanding action against officials for alleged corruption.
"They want some senior officials suspended, and they have grievances against some of the law firms that the municipality is making use of. Some of the officials claim that they were appointed in an irregular manner,” says the municipality's Sifizo Zulu.

Zulu says they are assessing the damage caused by the protests.
They are also trying to obtain a court interdict.
"We have reported the matter to SAPS, and also we are looking at our own internal capacity to protect property. We believe that negotiations and rational discussion will enable us to come to an amicable solution to the situation,” says Zulu.
