KwaDukuza municipal offices remain closed

The KwaDukuza Municipality says it's still not open for business today, as protest action outside the nearby ANC offices continues today.

The municipality closed its doors yesterday morning - after staff members were intimidated by protesters.
It's understood the ANC protesters are unhappy over claims the Provincial Executive Committee wants to reinstate convicted former regional secretary - Musa Zondi.
The party's regional leaders have dismissed this as rumours.
Municipal spokesperson Sipho Mkhize says management and councillors are currently in a meeting to discuss how they can deal with the situation.
"One thing that is very clear is that the individuals who were protesting have made it clear that there was no government office to function until the issues that they have are somewhat resolved," Mkhize said.

Mkhize says municipal services are unaffected.
"Our services continue as normal. The one thing that we have closed are our offices where there is interpersonal communication - due to the fact that we cannot subject ourselves to a point where you have a situation like yesterday," Mkhize said.
The party's regional leaders have dismissed the claims about Zondi's reinstatement.
Deputy regional secretary Matozi Khuzwayo-Dlamini says they'll meet with the protesters and then draft a report to the PEC.
"The next step is to address them and we will forward a report to the ANC provinical executive. The ANC will provide us with a way forward," he said.
